Intelligent outerwear management system
2024 – 2026
A commercial IoT product I helped take from prototype to market release at Alltrons, from the circuit boards up to the production servers.
nRF52833, Zephyr RTOS, ESP-IDF, KiCad, REST APIs, MQTT, PostgreSQL, Docker, Caddy
What it is
An intelligent system for managing outerwear, built by Alltrons for a client and released commercially in 2026.
What I worked on
I worked on every layer of the product, which is the part of this job I enjoyed most.
Hardware. I selected microcontrollers, designed PCBs in KiCad, defined device communication over UART and sensor interfaces over SPI and I2C, and assembled, soldered and tested boards during hardware and software integration.
Firmware. I programmed nRF52833-based devices using Zephyr RTOS and developed further embedded components with ESP-IDF.
Backend. I built REST APIs for authentication, device onboarding and initialisation, worked with MQTT in an event-driven architecture, and maintained PostgreSQL-backed Symfony and Laravel systems and legacy client applications. I also set up parts of the network infrastructure with Docker, Rust and Caddy.
Production. I configured and ran the development, staging and production environments, handled production incidents and server failures, and automated documentation with GitHub Actions, Doxygen and LaTeX.
Getting it to market
Before release, the focus was stability. I refactored parts of the system for performance and scalability, tested it on site at the client’s location, and worked directly with the client on support, updates and new features after launch.
