Software and embedded engineer

I design the circuit board, write the firmware, build the backend it talks to, and keep the whole thing running in production.

Based in the Warsaw area, Poland

  1. Hardware

Microcontroller selection, PCB design in KiCad, assembly and soldering

  2. Firmware

Zephyr RTOS on nRF52833, ESP-IDF, UART, SPI, I2C

  3. Backend

REST APIs, MQTT, PostgreSQL, Python, PHP, Rust

  4. Production

Docker, Caddy, GitHub Actions, incident handling, field tests

The layers of a connected product, from the device up. I've shipped work at every one of them.

About

Portrait of Michał Raczkowski

I spent the last two years in Eindhoven at Alltrons, where I helped take a commercial IoT product from prototype to market release. That meant picking microcontrollers and designing PCBs, writing Zephyr firmware for nRF52833 boards, building the REST APIs and MQTT plumbing behind them, and then running staging and production, including field tests at the client's site.

I graduated in ICT & Software Engineering from Fontys University of Applied Sciences, specialising in software engineering and AI. Along the way I built a code-generation tool at ASML and fine-tuned a language model for BDO's internal chatbot.

Read about the project
  • An electro-mechanical arm based on the open-source InMoov project, which I designed, built and debugged for a high-school teacher. It ended up on national radio and TV.

InMoov, 3D printing, electronics, mechanical design

  • Tiny wearable boards with hand-soldered 0603 LEDs, running on an ATmega328P. My longest-running side project.

ATmega328P, KiCad, Eagle, PCB design, soldering

  • A university project for the consulting firm BDO. We fine-tuned a small T5 model to tell questions, summaries and translation requests apart.

T5, synthetic data, Databricks, Azure Machine Learning

  • A progressive web app that helps international students settle into life in Poland, with offline search. A freelance project I ran end to end.

    React, PWA, IndexedDB

  • A website that gives a preliminary sale price for different solar modules, with the calculation written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly.

    Rust, WebAssembly, JavaScript

  • A small game about looking after a digital pet, drawn on an HTML canvas.

    JavaScript, HTML canvas

Experience

  1. Aug 2024 – Apr 2026, Eindhoven, the Netherlands

    Alltrons, Software Engineer

    • Took a commercial IoT product through market release, working across hardware, firmware, backend, frontend and deployment.
    • Selected microcontrollers, designed PCBs, and programmed nRF52833 devices on Zephyr RTOS; built further embedded components with ESP-IDF.
    • Built REST APIs for authentication, device onboarding and initialisation, worked with MQTT in an event-driven architecture, and maintained PostgreSQL-backed Symfony and Laravel systems.
    • Ran development, staging and production environments with Docker, Docker Compose and Caddy, handled production incidents, and tested the system on site with the client.
  2. Oct 2024 – Jan 2025, Veldhoven, the Netherlands

ASML, Software Engineering Intern (university placement)

    • Built a Python and Jinja code-generation tool that automates plugin creation for internal ASML software.
    • Worked on site with a university team inside ASML's secure development environment.
  3. Jun – Aug 2021, Warsaw, Poland

Monkeyfab, Junior 3D Printing Hardware Engineer

    • Assembled and maintained FDM 3D printers, soldered custom hardware components, and designed parts in Fusion 360.
    • Printed prototypes and production series and handled their quality control.
